We've swum this far and at this point we're closer to the other side to bother swimming back to the shore. We have to keep going. Our bones are sore, our lungs are tired, our resolve is weary but we have to keep going because what else have we got? Giving up now simply invalidates all the work that got us here- redefines the aches and distance traveled as foolish and unnecessary. I'd rather give my pain a point. I'd rather see it amount to more than discomfort but to collect and form the path to a destination. This destination. Still off in the distance but it's there, waiting for us. So, what do you say? Let's keep going.
I'm kind of obsessed with having an empty e-mail box. I get agitated having unmet obligations and so when I have an empty in-box I feel a sense of relief that's pretty satisfying- and then a minute later it's gone when a new message arrives. I thought maybe some of you guys could relate.
On December 17th 2016, in honor of the upcoming (and hopefully much improved) new year, Morley continued his tradition of holiday scavenger hunts by placing 17 magnets around the city of Los Angeles. He posted the following video clues to their locations on his instagram story feed where they were only available for 24 hours.
It is currently unknown if all of the magnets were discovered.
When we get there, I'm gonna sing along with your chorus at the top of my lungs.
I was signing mini posters and Hattie got curious. Seeing as how she was the model for this poster it seemed too cute to resist snapping a picture.
A sense of comfort, peace, contentment, accomplishment or satisfaction are among the most precious and fleeting sensations so when you feel them take note.
IN OTHER NEWS: I have a new episode of my podcast Paper Crown posted! Check it out at PaperCrownPodcast.com
The right moment always needs the right melody.
One year ago two little kittens were born. After being discovered in a cardboard box that had been taped closed and left on a street corner they were rescued by an organization called LUXE Paws. My wife and I had been fostering cats for a while with them and were happy to take care of these two cats until they found a forever home. Well we quickly fell in love with them and decided we couldn't let them go. Our cats are named Howie and Hattie. I decided that for their birthday I'd make a pair of posters that celebrate why pet owning is so rewarding- and specifically why adopting rescued pets can be so wonderful. If you live in the Echo Park/Silverlake area of Los Angeles and want to foster or adopt or just support this organization I highly recommend that you do. They are committed to not only rescuing but spaying and neutering so that we can curb the flood of homeless animals in the city. My cats and so many more would surely have died if it wasn't for Luxe Paws and the people that support them and I'm thankful every day that I know they're out there, helping homeless cats and dogs find better lives.
Sometimes we all just need a recharge.
You gotta put it out there to get anything back.
Had a chance to visit the San Diego Safari Park yesterday. Highly recommend. Lions and tigers, cheetahs and gorillas and more. A fantastic place with well treated animals and conservation worth supporting.
We're here for a good time, not a long time.
I don't often post the addresses of my pieces but this one is interactive and requires your participation to really work- so if you want to, you can go to 1911 Hyperion Ave Los Angeles, CA 90027. The idea is to post a photo of you standing in front of it making your declaration. I'm going with "FROM THIS MOMENT ON: I will stop constantly comparing myself to others." Call it an early New Years resolution.
There's a new episode of my podcast up. This one is called "Grease Paint" and it stars Keir O'Donnell and Brian Maillard. The story follows a party clown explaining to his co-worker why he got angry and pushed a little kid in the pool at his birthday party. Subscribe at iTunes by searching for Paper Crown Podcast!
Always awesome to see my work decorating the set of 2 Broke Girls. Here's 2 Chainz hanging out in front of a piece of mine which reads: "I WILL LIVE FOREVER IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO." I can't help but notice that 2 Chainz has more than 2 Chainz. Maybe his name should be At The Very Least 2 Chainz or No Fewer Than 2 Chainz. I guess those aren't as catchy though.
Here's a video documenting the creation of the Regrets piece at the closing of my show at Ewkuks Gallery. Thanks to all of you who e-mailed me your regrets and to everyone who made it out and got their hands dirty! You guys are awesome!
