I bought a projector and a portable battery and went around the city and projected a few of my slogans against walls. The battery could only power the projector for so long before dying but while they were up, it would be hard to miss them.
As for the meaning of this one, when I make a piece I try to have a few different ways one can interpret the sentiment. This allows for a variety of people at various points in their life to define how it relates to them. With this piece specifically I wanted to create a visual with the text. The visual of a seemingly endless chasm- a precipice. We reach these deep chasms from time to time in our life and some might even say that life itself is crossing one gulf after another. In my life, the most terrifying of them all is the fear of failure. To make a leap of faith in myself and instead of finding wings to sail across the precipice I simply tumble downward and crash to the bottom of the ravine. But then I realize that I am not alone. That I can find solace in those who leapt with me, hand in hand, suffering similar bruises and broken bones. Or perhaps they are simply there to help me up. Another way to picture this is from the perspective of someone looking up from the bottom of a vast hole. Deep enough to appear impossible to climb out of. The treacherous goal of ascending up from the consequences of a past mistake or the exhausting task of daily self improvement. In that moment before you first mount the chasm wall the question will arise if an attempt is even worth the possibility of falling back down again. Often times that question is answered upon discovery that you are not alone. That someone stands with you, at the bottom of the pit. Perhaps someone who has fallen into similar patterns and faces similar needs of personal repair or maybe it’s someone who just supports you and encourages you to take the first step.
There are other ways that one could decipher this statement, those are just a few and I leave it to the reader to pick which one applies to their present circumstance, but rest assured that there will always be another precipice to face in life, the question is who jumps with you, falls with you, crashes to the ground with you, helps you to your feet and climbs out along side you?
