This piece was inspired by the album cover for "Everything In Between" by the band No Age. I have always been interested in how much you can distort text, and how much you can obscure and still be able to clearly read the message. It's a bit of a departure for me as it doesn't contain a drawing of me but since it's still a bold monochromatic message, I figured I'd try to experiment a bit. It's funny, often artists don't feel the freedom to try different approaches and perhaps make mistakes in a public setting where they can be judged, like a band that is taking a different musical approach- there is usually some trepidation and fear of actually letting people here it before you've fully committed to the direction. Street art is a little different in that it's so temporary that if indeed you discover that you're unhappy with how something came out or in the reaction it's gotten, it's probably not going to haunt you very long. I know there are more than a few posters that I've phased out for one reason or another or bad/poorly placed paste-up jobs that now make me cringe but hey, if I have to experience some awkward growing pains as an artist in front of a bunch of people, so be it.
